What is Webflow?
Webflow is a visual website builder that also hosts sites and generates clean code.
Signs a site uses Webflow
- A generator tag naming Webflow. Webflow adds it to published sites.
- data-wf-page and data-wf-site attributes. They sit on the html element of Webflow pages.
- assets.website-files.com or cdn.prod.website-files.com in file addresses. Webflow serves images, styles and scripts from these domains.
How to check by hand
View the page source and search for data-wf-site. Sites on the free plan also use an address ending in webflow.io.
What can hide it
A site exported from Webflow and hosted elsewhere keeps much of its markup, so these signs show it was designed in Webflow, not that it’s hosted there. A negative result doesn’t prove a site isn’t using Webflow, because the checker reads the page source and response headers, and tools loaded later by JavaScript may be missed.
