WordPress to Webflow Redirects — Map Your URLs for the Migration

Moving a site from WordPress to Webflow changes almost every URL: dated blog paths, /category/ archives, trailing slashes and page slugs. Load the WordPress sitemap and your Webflow staging sitemap, let the mapper match them, and export the 301 redirects to add in Webflow.

Como usar: WordPress to Webflow Redirects

  1. Type your WordPress domain on the left and click Load sitemap (Yoast and Rank Math sitemaps are found automatically).
  2. Type your Webflow staging domain (yoursite.webflow.io) on the right and load it.
  3. Click Match URLs and review the amber and red rows — usually tags, categories and author archives.
  4. Click Create redirect rules, choose Webflow, and add the redirects under Site settings → Publishing → 301 redirects.

Typical WordPress → Webflow URL changes

  • Blog posts: /2023/05/my-post/ or /my-post/ become /blog/my-post (a Webflow CMS collection). Same-slug matching catches these.
  • Categories and tags: /category/news/ often has no Webflow equivalent and falls back to /blog.
  • Trailing slashes: WordPress adds them, Webflow doesn’t — the mapper treats both as the same page, so only real changes become redirects.
  • Attachment, feed and author URLs: leave them out, or send them to the closest page.

Webflow 301 redirects take an old path and a new path, and support wildcard capture groups for whole folders — the Redirect Generator writes them in Webflow’s format.

Perguntas frequentes

Do I need redirects when moving from WordPress to Webflow?
Yes, for every URL that changes. Without 301 redirects, old links and rankings lead to 404 pages on the new site.
How do I add redirects in Webflow?
Site settings → Publishing → 301 redirects: enter the old path and the redirect-to path, then publish. The Redirect Generator gives you the list ready to add.
How does the automatic matching work?
Both lists are compared by path, so domains, http/https, trailing slashes, index files and .html or .php endings don’t matter. Identical paths match first, then pages with the same last slug (even in a different folder), then pages whose words are most similar — with light stemming, so “services” matches “service”. Dates and years in blog URLs are ignored.
What happens to old pages with no equivalent?
By default they redirect to the closest parent folder that exists on the new site (/blog/category/news → /blog). Anything left over is marked “No match” for you to fill in. Redirecting everything to the homepage is possible but Google treats mass homepage redirects like 404s, so use it sparingly.
