What is Squarespace?

Squarespace is a hosted website builder known for its design templates.

Signs a site uses Squarespace

  • static1.squarespace.com in file addresses. Squarespace hosts site files on this domain.
  • A Squarespace mention in the server header. Its servers often identify themselves in the response.
  • Squarespace notes in the source comments. The templates include HTML comments naming the platform.

How to check by hand

View the page source and search for squarespace. It usually appears many times on a real Squarespace site.

What can hide it

Like Wix, Squarespace controls its hosting, so the signs are difficult to remove. A negative result doesn’t prove a site isn’t using Squarespace, because the checker reads the page source and response headers, and tools loaded later by JavaScript may be missed.

Check the rest of the stack

Paste the address into the Website Technology Checker to see the platform, framework, analytics and more in one report. To see where the site runs, use Who Is Hosting.

Website Technology CheckerFind out what any site runs on: CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Ghost, Webflow, Wix, Shopify), forum software (vBulletin, XenForo, phpBB, Discourse), frameworks (Next.js, Nuxt, React, Vue), server and CDN, analytics and more — with versions when the site shows them.

Perguntas frequentes

How can I tell if a website uses Squarespace?
Enter the address in the checker above, or view the page source and look for: static1.squarespace.com in file addresses.
Is the Squarespace check always accurate?
A match is a strong sign, but no outside check is certain. Like Wix, Squarespace controls its hosting, so the signs are difficult to remove.
Can a Squarespace site be moved to WordPress?
Partly. Squarespace can export some content for WordPress, but the design has to be rebuilt.
