What is WooCommerce?

WooCommerce is a free e-commerce plugin that turns WordPress into an online store.

Signs a site uses WooCommerce

  • /wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/ in file addresses. The plugin loads its styles and scripts from this folder.
  • woocommerce classes on the body or products. Themes add classes such as woocommerce-page to shop pages.
  • A wc-ajax parameter in requests. The cart uses this to update without reloading the page.

How to check by hand

Open a product or shop page, view the source and search for woocommerce. Check a shop page, because the home page may not load the plugin.

What can hide it

Sites that combine or rename their files can hide the folder path, but the classes on shop pages usually remain. A negative result doesn’t prove a site isn’t using WooCommerce, because the checker reads the page source and response headers, and tools loaded later by JavaScript may be missed.

Check the rest of the stack

Paste the address into the Website Technology Checker to see the platform, framework, analytics and more in one report. To see where the site runs, use Who Is Hosting.

Website Technology CheckerFind out what any site runs on: CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Ghost, Webflow, Wix, Shopify), forum software (vBulletin, XenForo, phpBB, Discourse), frameworks (Next.js, Nuxt, React, Vue), server and CDN, analytics and more — with versions when the site shows them.

Perguntas frequentes

How can I tell if a website uses WooCommerce?
Enter the address in the checker above, or view the page source and look for: /wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/ in file addresses.
Is the WooCommerce check always accurate?
A match is a strong sign, but no outside check is certain. Sites that combine or rename their files can hide the folder path, but the classes on shop pages usually remain.
Is WooCommerce the same as WordPress?
No. WooCommerce is a plugin, so a site with WooCommerce is also a WordPress site.
