What is Wix?

Wix is a hosted website builder with a drag-and-drop editor.

Signs a site uses Wix

  • static.wixstatic.com in image addresses. Wix hosts uploaded images and media on this domain.
  • An x-wix-request-id response header. Wix’s servers add this header to their responses.
  • A generator tag naming Wix.com. Wix sites commonly include it in the page head.

How to check by hand

View the page source and search for wixstatic. Free Wix sites also use an address ending in wixsite.com.

What can hide it

Wix sites are hard to disguise because the platform controls the hosting, so a clear result here is usually reliable. A negative result doesn’t prove a site isn’t using Wix, because the checker reads the page source and response headers, and tools loaded later by JavaScript may be missed.

Check the rest of the stack

Paste the address into the Website Technology Checker to see the platform, framework, analytics and more in one report. To see where the site runs, use Who Is Hosting.

Website Technology CheckerFind out what any site runs on: CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Ghost, Webflow, Wix, Shopify), forum software (vBulletin, XenForo, phpBB, Discourse), frameworks (Next.js, Nuxt, React, Vue), server and CDN, analytics and more — with versions when the site shows them.

Häufige Fragen

How can I tell if a website uses Wix?
Enter the address in the checker above, or view the page source and look for: static.wixstatic.com in image addresses.
Is the Wix check always accurate?
A match is a strong sign, but no outside check is certain. Wix sites are hard to disguise because the platform controls the hosting, so a clear result here is usually reliable.
Can a Wix site use its own domain?
Yes. A custom domain hides Wix from the address bar, but the file addresses and headers still show it.
