Why text from PDFs breaks into short lines
PDFs store text line by line as it appears on the page, so copying a paragraph gives you a hard line break at the end of every printed line — and words split across lines keep their hyphen (“informa-tion”). Emails wrapped at 72 characters and terminal output behave the same way.
Keep paragraphs or join everything
Keep paragraphs joins lines inside a paragraph but keeps the blank line between paragraphs, so the structure survives. Remove all breaks turns everything into one line — useful for pasting into a single-line field, a spreadsheet cell or a JSON string. Remove empty lines only keeps every line but deletes the blank ones.
Fixing hyphenation
With Rejoin hyphenated words on, a hyphen at the end of a line followed by a lowercase word is removed and the word joined: “docu-↵ment” becomes “document”. Real compound words that happen to fall at a line end (like “well-↵known”) may lose their hyphen, so skim the result.
