HTML for share buttons

Your data never leaves your computer. All processing happens 100% locally in your browser.

How to use the Social Share Link Generator

  1. Enter the URL you want people to share and an optional text, hashtags and X username.
  2. Tick the networks you need — X, Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Telegram, Reddit, Pinterest, Bluesky, Threads, XING, Hacker News or email.
  3. Copy single links, Test them, or copy the HTML for a row of share buttons.
  4. For a blog or CMS template, switch to Dynamic (current page): the links share whichever page they’re on, using a few lines of script for your site footer.

Share links vs share plugins

Every big network offers a simple share URL: open it and the user sees a pre-filled post with your link. That’s all most “share buttons” really do. Third-party share widgets add JavaScript, cookies and tracking on top — which slows the page, can require a cookie banner entry and often breaks layouts. Plain links are faster, private, work without JavaScript and can be styled exactly like the rest of your site.

Make shared links look good

Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp and most others build the preview card from your page’s Open Graph tags — og:title, og:description and og:image. If the preview looks wrong, the share link isn’t the problem: check the page with the Open Graph Checker, create a proper 1200×630 image with the OG Image Generator and generate the tags with the Meta Tag Generator. Networks cache previews, so after changing tags use their debuggers (for example LinkedIn’s Post Inspector) to refresh.

Share buttons in Webflow

For a static page, build Link Blocks in the Designer and paste the share URLs as their links. For CMS templates the URL changes per item — use the dynamic mode: give each link a custom attribute data-share with the network (x, linkedin, whatsapp…) and add the script to the site footer. It reads the current page URL and title and fills in the links. To track clicks, append UTM parameters to the URL you share.

For a WhatsApp “chat with us” button with your phone number, use the WhatsApp Link Generator; to check post length before sharing, use the Social Media Character Counter.

Tools that pair well with the Social Share Link Generator

  • QR Code Generator — Generate a QR code for a link, Wi-Fi login, contact card, email, phone number or SMS.
  • Bold Text Generator — LinkedIn, Instagram and X don’t have a bold button — but Unicode does.
  • WhatsApp Link Generator — Turn a phone number and a pre-filled message into a wa.me click-to-chat link — with a QR code for print and a ready-made button for your website.
  • Open Graph Checker — Preview how your link will look when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Slack.

Frequently asked questions

Why does LinkedIn or Facebook ignore my text?
Both networks removed the option to pre-fill post text through share links. They only take the URL and build the preview from the page’s Open Graph tags; the user writes their own comment.
Do these share links track my visitors?
No. They’re plain links — nothing loads until someone clicks, and no third-party scripts or cookies are added to your site.
Is twitter.com/intent/tweet still valid?
Yes, both twitter.com/intent/tweet and x.com/intent/tweet work. The generator uses x.com.
How do I add share buttons to a Webflow CMS blog?
Use the Dynamic mode: add links with a data-share attribute to the blog template and paste the script into Site settings → Custom code → Footer. Each post then shares its own URL and title.
Can I use brand icons on the buttons?
Yes — most networks provide official logos and brand guidelines for share buttons. Follow each network’s guidelines on colour, spacing and usage.
