Epoch Converter — Epoch Time to Date

Turn an epoch timestamp like 1767225600 into a readable date — in UTC, your time zone or any other — or a date into epoch seconds and milliseconds. The current epoch time ticks at the top.

Your data never leaves your computer. All processing happens 100% locally in your browser.

How to use the Epoch Converter

  1. Paste an epoch timestamp — seconds, milliseconds, microseconds or nanoseconds are detected automatically.
  2. Read the date in UTC, your local time and ISO 8601, or pick another time zone.
  3. To go the other way, enter a date and copy the epoch value.

What is epoch time?

Epoch time (Unix time) counts the seconds since 1 January 1970, 00:00:00 UTC — the “Unix epoch”. It ignores time zones and leap seconds, which makes it ideal for storing and comparing moments in logs, databases and APIs. 1767225600 is 1 January 2026, 00:00 UTC.

Seconds, milliseconds or more?

The number of digits tells you the unit: 10 digits are seconds (Unix, PHP, Python time.time()), 13 are milliseconds (JavaScript Date.now(), Java), 16 are microseconds and 19 nanoseconds (Go, some databases). The converter detects the unit, or you can pick it.

The year 2038 problem

Systems that store epoch seconds in a signed 32-bit integer overflow on 19 January 2038 at 03:14:07 UTC, jumping back to 1901. Modern systems use 64-bit integers, which last for billions of years.

Tools that pair well with the Epoch Converter

  • Date Format Converter — Paste a date format like DD.MM.YYYY HH:mm and get the equivalent for Make, Zapier, n8n, date-fns, Python and PHP — with a live preview and ready-to-paste expressions.
  • Date Difference Calculator — Count the days between two dates — including business days and a years/months/days breakdown — add or subtract time from a date, or run a live countdown.
  • Cron Expression Generator — Build a crontab schedule without memorizing the syntax — or paste an existing expression to see what it means in plain English and exactly when it will run next.
  • Morse Code Translator — Type text to get Morse code, or paste dots and dashes to decode them — then listen to it, watch it flash and download the audio.

Frequently asked questions

What is the current epoch time?
It is shown live at the top of the tool, in seconds and milliseconds. In code: Math.floor(Date.now() / 1000) in JavaScript or int(time.time()) in Python.
Is epoch time the same everywhere?
Yes. An epoch timestamp is the same instant worldwide; only its display as a local date depends on the time zone.
How do I convert epoch milliseconds to a date?
Paste the 13-digit value — milliseconds are detected automatically — or divide by 1000 to get seconds.
Can I install Epoch Converter as a web app and use it offline?
Yes. Epoch Converter is an installable web app (PWA) — installed from your browser, not downloaded from an app store. Click Install app at the top of this page in Chrome or Edge (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS) or on Android, use Share → Add to Home Screen on iPhone and iPad, or File → Add to Dock in Safari 17+ on a Mac. It then opens in its own window with its own icon, and because it runs entirely in your browser it keeps working offline. Firefox on desktop can’t install web apps. How installing works.
