How to use the Random Number Generator
- Choose a mode: Number, Pick from list, Teams, Coin or Dice.
- Set the options — a range and count for numbers (with or without duplicates), or paste names one per line for picking and teams.
- Press Generate. Every result uses your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator.
- Copy the result — for example to announce a giveaway winner or share team lists. Your list is remembered in this browser only.
Truly fair randomness
Many random tools use Math.random(), which is fine for games but not designed to be unpredictable. This generator uses crypto.getRandomValues() — the same cryptographically secure source browsers use for encryption keys — and rejection sampling, so every number in your range is exactly equally likely (no “modulo bias”). Lists are shuffled with the Fisher–Yates algorithm, which gives every order the same probability.
What you can do
- Random numbers — any range, up to 10,000 at once, unique or with repeats, optionally sorted. Great for raffles, sampling and testing.
- Random name picker — paste participants and draw one or several winners for a giveaway, or shuffle the order of speakers.
- Team generator — split a class, workshop or five-a-side group into balanced random teams.
- Coin flip & dice roller — flip up to 1,000 coins or roll any number of d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 or d100 dice with the total.
Running a fair giveaway
Export entries into a list (one per line), remove duplicates with Remove Duplicate Lines, then pick winners here and take a screenshot for transparency. For calculating odds — like lottery chances — use the Possibility & Combination Calculator; for random identifiers in code, the UUID Generator and for secure strings the Password Generator.
