Tracking & Pixel Checker — Find GA4, GTM & Meta Pixel IDs

Enter a URL to find every analytics tag, ad pixel and tag manager on the page — with their IDs, what’s loaded inside Google Tag Manager, the cookie consent tool, and Search Console / Bing verification tags.

What we detect

Enter any public URL above and press Enter.

  • Google Tag Manager, GA4, Google Ads, AdSense
  • Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, X, Snap, Reddit, Microsoft pixels
  • Hotjar, Clarity, HubSpot, Segment, Mixpanel, Plausible, Matomo…
  • Cookiebot, OneTrust, Usercentrics, CookieYes, Consent Mode
  • Search Console, Bing, Meta & Pinterest verification tags
  • Tags configured inside public GTM containers

This tool fetches the public URL you enter from our server. Results are held in temporary memory for a few minutes and never stored in a database.

How to use the Tracking & Pixel Checker

  1. Enter a page URL — your own site, a client’s, or a competitor’s — and click Find tags.
  2. The checker reads the page HTML and opens any public Google Tag Manager container it references, so tags managed in GTM are found too.
  3. Review the IDs (copy them with one click) and where each was found: directly on the page or via a GTM container.
  4. Check the findings: retired Universal Analytics, GA4 loaded twice, pixels without a consent tool, or missing Consent Mode.

Why check tracking tags?

Tracking setups drift. Agencies hand over sites with old Universal Analytics snippets still in the footer, a GA4 tag hard-coded and fired from Google Tag Manager (double page views), or a Meta Pixel that loads before the cookie banner. A quick scan answers the questions that come up in every audit, onboarding or migration: which tools are installed, which IDs do they use, and are they loaded the right way?

Looking inside Google Tag Manager

When tags are managed in GTM, the page source only shows the container ID. The checker also downloads the public container file (gtm.js?id=GTM-…) — the same file every visitor’s browser loads — and scans it for configured measurement IDs and pixels. Tags in GTM may still be paused or fire only on certain pages or after consent, so treat these as “configured”, not necessarily “firing”.

Common problems

  • Universal Analytics leftovers — UA stopped processing data in 2023 (2024 for GA360). Remove UA- snippets; they only slow the page.
  • Double GA4 — the same G- ID hard-coded in the site and fired by GTM inflates page views and halves bounce rates.
  • Pixels without consent — in the EU/UK, analytics and ad pixels generally require prior consent. Load them through your consent tool or GTM consent triggers.
  • Missing Consent Mode — Google requires Consent Mode v2 signals for ads personalisation and remarketing in the EEA.

For Webflow sites the report also shows the Webflow site ID. Related checks: the SEO Checker for on-page SEO, the Security Headers Checker, and the AI Crawler Checker. Building UTM links for campaigns? Use the UTM Builder.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the Google Analytics ID of a website?
Enter the URL above. GA4 measurement IDs start with G-; the checker finds them in the page source and inside the site’s Google Tag Manager container.
Is this a replacement for Meta Pixel Helper or Google Tag Assistant?
It’s a quick, install-free overview of what’s configured. Browser extensions like Tag Assistant and Pixel Helper show what actually fires in your session (including after consent and on interactions) — use them to debug events.
Why is a pixel shown as “detected” without an ID?
The script was found but its ID is set in a format the checker can’t read reliably — often inside a GTM template. Open the GTM container or the browser’s Network tab to see it.
Why aren’t some tags found?
Tags added by other scripts after the page loads, loaded only after cookie consent, or configured server-side don’t appear in the HTML. Sites protected by bot challenges may also block the check.
Is it OK to check other people’s websites?
Yes — the checker only reads public files that every visitor’s browser downloads anyway (the page HTML and public GTM containers).
