How to use the GTM Snippet Generator
- Enter your container ID (
GTM-…) from the top of Tag Manager. - Keep Consent Mode v2 defaults on if your site shows a cookie banner.
- Paste the first block in the
<head>and the second right after<body>. - Publish, then open Preview in Tag Manager to check the container loads.
Why consent defaults go first
Tags in a container read consent the moment they fire. Setting denied defaults in a script above the container means nothing stores cookies before the visitor chooses — the banner then updates consent and Tag Manager re-evaluates the waiting tags. The body <noscript> iframe only matters for visitors without JavaScript. Push events into the container with the dataLayer Push Generator.
