How to use the JSON to TOML Converter
- Paste a JSON object — the top level must be an object.
- The TOML appears as you type; invalid JSON is reported with the position.
- Copy or download the TOML file.
How JSON maps to TOML
Simple values become key = value lines. Nested objects become tables — {"server": {"port": 8080}} turns into [server] followed by port = 8080. Arrays of objects become arrays of tables written with double brackets, [[servers]], one block per item. Arrays of plain values stay inline: tags = ["a", "b"].
What can’t be converted
TOML has no null, so null values are left out. A TOML document is always a table, so the JSON must be an object at the top level — wrap a top-level array in an object first. Dates in ISO 8601 strings stay strings; write them as TOML dates by hand if your tool expects a date type.
Private by design
The conversion runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
