Particle Animation Generator — Snow, Rain, Stars, Confetti & Your Own SVG

Add falling snow, rain, shooting stars, confetti, petals, autumn leaves, hearts or rising bubbles to any page — or upload your own SVG or image (or type an emoji) and make it fall. Set how many, size, speed, wind, sway and spin, then copy a lightweight pure CSS snippet or a tiny JavaScript version. It respects reduced-motion settings and never blocks clicks.

How to use the Particle Animation Generator

  1. Pick an effect — and click + Add layer to stack more (for example snow plus shooting stars); remove a layer with its ×. Effects: snow, snowflakes, rain, shooting stars, falling stars, confetti, petals, leaves, hearts, bubbles — or My SVG / image to upload your own, or Emoji.
  2. Adjust how many, size, speed, wind and sway. Pause between makes particles appear now and then, like shooting stars.
  3. Choose whether it covers the whole page (fixed overlay) or one section.
  4. Copy the HTML + CSS (no JavaScript) or the shorter JavaScript version, or download a demo page.

How the animation works

Each particle is an <i> element with its own size, start position, duration and delay stored in CSS custom properties. One @keyframes rule moves it from above the top edge to below the bottom; an inner <b> sways side to side and spins. Only transform is animated, so the browser runs it on the GPU without re-laying out the page.

.dp-fall { position: fixed; inset: 0; overflow: hidden; pointer-events: none; container-type: size; }
.dp-fall i { position: absolute; top: 0; animation: dp-fall var(--d) linear var(--t) infinite; }
@keyframes dp-fall { to { transform: translate(var(--dx), calc(100cqh + var(--s) * 3)); } }

Negative delays start every particle part-way through its fall, so the screen is already full when the page loads. pointer-events: none lets clicks pass through, and prefers-reduced-motion hides the effect for visitors who turned animations off.

Using your own SVG

Choose My SVG / image and upload a small SVG, PNG, WebP or GIF — a logo, a snowflake, a coin. It is embedded in the CSS as a data URI, so the snippet still needs no extra file. Built-in shapes are drawn with a CSS mask, so Mixed colors can recolor each one.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add falling snow to my website?
Choose Snow, set the amount and speed, copy the HTML + CSS and paste it before the closing body tag (or into an Embed / Custom HTML block). It covers the page without blocking clicks.
Does it slow down my site?
Only transform is animated, which browsers run on the GPU. Keep the count under about 150 on mobile. Visitors with reduced motion turned on do not see the effect.
Can I make my own SVG or logo fall?
Yes — choose My SVG / image and upload the file. It is embedded in the CSS as a data URI; keep it small (under 20 KB) so the snippet stays light.
What is the difference between the HTML + CSS and JavaScript versions?
HTML + CSS writes every particle into the markup and needs no script. The JavaScript version is much shorter: a few lines create the particles when the page loads, with a new random layout each time.
Can it fill just one section instead of the whole page?
Yes — choose One section, paste the snippet inside the section and give the section position: relative.
Can I install Particle Animation Generator as a web app and use it offline?
Yes. Particle Animation Generator is an installable web app (PWA) — installed from your browser, not downloaded from an app store. Click Install app at the top of this page in Chrome or Edge (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS) or on Android, use Share → Add to Home Screen on iPhone and iPad, or File → Add to Dock in Safari 17+ on a Mac. It then opens in its own window with its own icon, and because it runs entirely in your browser it keeps working offline. Firefox on desktop can’t install web apps. How installing works.
