How to use the Alphabetize List
- Paste your list — one item per line, or separated by commas.
- Choose A → Z, Z → A or another order, and the options you need.
- Copy the sorted list; it updates as you edit.
Sort like a dictionary
With Ignore case on, “apple”, “Banana” and “cherry” sort as a dictionary would, instead of putting all capitals first. Sorting follows your language’s alphabet, so accented letters like “é” and “ö” sit next to their base letters rather than at the end.
Natural number order
Plain alphabetical sorting puts “Item 10” before “Item 2”, because it compares character by character. Natural sorting reads numbers as numbers: Item 1, Item 2, Item 10. It’s the right choice for file names, versions and chapters.
Ignoring articles
Libraries and music collections usually file “The Beatles” under B. Turn on Ignore “the”, “a”, “an” to sort by the first significant word while keeping the original text in the result.
Cleaning the list
Remove duplicates (compared using your case setting), drop blank lines and trim stray spaces in the same step. The counter shows how many items were removed. For lists in a single line, choose commas or semicolons as the separator — or let the tool detect it.
