Passport Scanner — Scan Your Passport Photo Page to PDF

Photograph the photo page of your passport — and, if a form asks, a second page such as the visa or address page — drag the corners to straighten it, and get a clean copy at real size as a PDF, JPG or print. Need it under 1 MB or 200 KB for an upload form? Pick a size limit. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use the Passport Scanner

  1. Open the passport at the photo page (the page with your photo and the two lines of letters at the bottom), lay it flat in good light and take a photo — or tap Choose photo page to pick one.
  2. Drag the four dots onto the corners of the page. The tool straightens it into a flat, rectangular scan.
  3. Add a second page only if the form asks for it — for example the visa, address or signature page.
  4. Choose a Max file size if the upload form has a limit, then Download PDF, Download JPG or Print.

What a passport scan needs

Visa applications, airlines, banks, hotels and employers usually want a copy of the photo page (the “biographical data page”): your photo, name, date of birth, passport number and the two lines of letters at the bottom — the machine-readable zone (MRZ). All four corners and the MRZ must be visible and sharp, without glare across the photo.

  • Size: the photo page is 125 × 88 mm (ID-3). At “Real size” it prints exactly that big.
  • Glare: passport pages are laminated. Avoid the flash, tilt the passport slightly away from the light, or shoot near a window.
  • Flatness: press the open passport flat — the straightening fixes the perspective, not a curved page.

Upload limits

Visa and government portals often accept only JPG or PDF under 1 MB, 500 KB or 200 KB. Choose the limit under Max file size: quality is lowered just enough to fit, and the MRZ stays readable down to about 100 KB.

Privacy

A passport scan is enough for identity theft. This scanner works only in your browser — the photo is never uploaded or stored. Add a watermark such as “Copy for visa application — 2026-10-28” before sending it, and only share it with organizations that need it.

Scanning an ID card or driver’s license instead? Use the ID Card Scanner or Driver’s License Scanner.

Frequently asked questions

Which page of the passport do I scan?
The photo page (biographical data page) — the one with your photo, details and the two lines of letters at the bottom. Some forms also ask for the signature, visa or address page; add it as the second page.
How do I make a passport scan smaller than 1 MB or 200 KB?
Choose a Max file size before downloading. The tool lowers the quality — and only if needed the resolution — until the file fits, and shows the final size.
Can I scan my passport with my phone?
Yes. Open this page on your phone, tap “Take a photo” or choose a picture, then drag the corners onto the page. Avoid the flash to prevent glare on the laminated page.
Is it safe to scan my passport here?
Yes — everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded or saved. Add a watermark naming who the copy is for and the date before sending it.
Can I install Passport Scanner as a web app and use it offline?
Yes. Passport Scanner is an installable web app (PWA) — installed from your browser, not downloaded from an app store. Click Install app at the top of this page in Chrome or Edge (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS) or on Android, use Share → Add to Home Screen on iPhone and iPad, or File → Add to Dock in Safari 17+ on a Mac. It then opens in its own window with its own icon, and because it runs entirely in your browser it keeps working offline. Firefox on desktop can’t install web apps. How installing works.
