How to use the Image Cropper
- Drop an image or click to choose one (paste with Ctrl+V works too).
- Pick an aspect ratio — or Free — and drag the frame or its handles; arrow keys nudge it, Shift moves 10 px.
- Fine-tune with exact X, Y, width and height, and set the output width.
- Choose PNG, JPG or WebP and click Crop & download.
Common crop ratios
| Ratio | Use it for | Typical size |
|---|---|---|
| 1:1 | Profile pictures, Instagram square posts, product thumbnails | 1080 × 1080 |
| 4:5 | Instagram portrait posts — the tallest feed format | 1080 × 1350 |
| 16:9 | YouTube thumbnails, presentations, hero images | 1920 × 1080 |
| 9:16 | Stories, Reels, TikTok, Shorts | 1080 × 1920 |
| 1.91:1 | Open Graph link previews on Facebook, LinkedIn, X | 1200 × 630 |
| Circle | Avatars and team photos — exported as PNG with a transparent outside | 512 × 512 |
Cropping vs resizing
Cropping removes the outer parts of an image; resizing scales the whole image. Crop first to get the framing and ratio right, then set the output width to scale the result — or use the image resizer for many images at once. The thirds grid inside the frame helps you place the subject on a rule-of-thirds line for a more balanced composition.
Need to straighten the photo first? Use Rotate & Flip. Make the file smaller afterwards with the image compressor.
Private by design
Your images are processed entirely in your browser with the Canvas API — nothing is uploaded, so personal photos, screenshots and client work never leave your device. There are no watermarks, sign-ups or file limits beyond your device’s memory.
Tools that pair well with the Image Cropper
- Watermark Image — Protect and brand your photos with a text or logo watermark — in a corner, centred or tiled across the image — and apply it to a whole batch at once, privately.
- OG Image Generator — Create a polished link-preview image for Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Slack and WhatsApp in seconds — pick a template, type your title, add a logo, then download the PNG and matching meta tags.
- Image to Base64 — Turn a PNG, JPEG, SVG, WebP or GIF into a Base64 data URI with copy-ready CSS and HTML — or paste a Base64 string to preview and download the image.
- Favicon Generator — Make a complete favicon package from a logo, a letter or an emoji: a multi-size favicon.ico, Apple touch icon, Android/PWA icons, a Webflow webclip, the web manifest and the HTML tags to paste.
