  3. Optionally set a maximum width to resize while converting.
  4. Download each image, or all of them as a ZIP.

Why convert JPG to PNG?

Converting JPG to PNG does not improve quality — detail lost by JPEG compression cannot be restored. It is useful when a tool or platform requires PNG, when you want to edit an image repeatedly without adding new compression artifacts, or as a first step before making a background transparent in an image editor.

Will the background become transparent?

No. JPG images have no transparency, so the converted PNG has the same solid background. Converting only changes the file format — remove the background in an image editor afterwards if you need transparency.

Quality and file size

PNG is lossless, so the output keeps every pixel of the decoded JPG. Expect the PNG to be larger than the JPG — that is normal, because PNG stores the image without lossy compression.

Private, batch conversion

Conversion uses your browser’s own image decoder and the HTML canvas, so files are never uploaded — useful for personal photos, client work and screenshots with sensitive data. Drop as many files as you like, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP. You can also set a maximum width to resize large images while converting. Need smaller files without changing the format? Use the image compressor; to change dimensions only, use the image resizer.

Tools that pair well with the JPG to PNG Converter

  • PNG to JPG Converter — Turn large PNG images into compact JPG files — one or hundreds at a time — with control over quality and the color that replaces transparency.
  • JPG to WebP Converter — Convert JPG photos to WebP to make pages load faster — usually a quarter to a third smaller with no visible difference.
  • Image Converter — Convert any image your browser can open — PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP or SVG — into PNG, JPG, WebP or AVIF, one file or hundreds at a time.
  • Image to Base64 — Turn a PNG, JPEG, SVG, WebP or GIF into a Base64 data URI with copy-ready CSS and HTML — or paste a Base64 string to preview and download the image.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert JPG to PNG?
Drop your JPG files on this page. They are converted to PNG immediately in your browser; click Download for each file or Download all (ZIP).
Does converting JPG to PNG reduce quality?
No. PNG is lossless, so the result looks exactly like the original JPG. It will not remove existing JPEG artifacts, though.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser using the built-in image decoder and canvas; your files never leave your device.
Can I convert many images at once?
Yes. Drop or select multiple files — each is converted and listed with its new size, and you can download them all as one ZIP.
