What is an HTML table generator?

An HTML table generator converts rows of data into <table> markup you can paste into a web page, CMS, email or documentation. Writing that markup by hand is slow and error-prone — every cell needs its own tag and special characters must be escaped. This tool does it from CSV, Excel cells or JSON in one step.

Accessible, semantic markup

The header row becomes <thead> with <th scope="col"> cells, and the data goes in <tbody>. Screen readers use these elements to announce the column name for each cell, and browsers repeat <thead> on every printed page. An optional <caption> gives the table an accessible name.

<table class="data-table">
  <thead>
    <tr>
      <th scope="col">name</th>
      <th scope="col">plan</th>
    </tr>
  </thead>
  <tbody>
    <tr>
      <td>Ada Lovelace</td>
      <td>pro</td>
    </tr>
  </tbody>
</table>

Escaping matters

With Escape HTML in cells on (the default), characters such as <, >, & and " are converted to entities, so a value like <b> shows as text instead of changing the page. Turn it off only when your cells deliberately contain trusted HTML such as links. The preview runs in a sandboxed frame with scripts disabled.

Style options

StyleWhat you get
Plain HTMLBare markup that inherits your site's CSS
Built-in CSSA small <style> block: borders, header background, zebra rows, right-aligned numbers
Bootstraptable table-striped table-bordered classes for Bootstrap 4/5 sites

For Webflow rich text and Markdown-based sites, a Markdown table may be simpler. To turn an existing HTML table into Markdown, use HTML to Markdown.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an Excel table to HTML?
Select the cells in Excel, copy, and paste them into the input pane — the tab-separated data is detected automatically. You can also open the .xlsx file directly.
Can cells contain links or other HTML?
Yes. Untick Escape HTML in cells and HTML in your data is kept as-is. Only do this with data you trust.
Will the table be responsive?
Wide tables need horizontal scrolling on phones. Wrap the table in a container with overflow-x:auto, which is what most responsive frameworks do.
Is my data uploaded?
No — conversion runs in your browser.
