Why convert SVG to PNG?
SVG is a vector format that stays sharp at any size, but many places only accept raster images: app store listings, favicons for some platforms, social media posts and profile images, Open Graph previews, email newsletters, Word and PowerPoint, and most CMS upload fields. Converting SVG to PNG renders the vector at the exact pixel size you choose, with a transparent background.
SVG vs PNG
| SVG | PNG | |
|---|---|---|
| Full name | Scalable Vector Graphics | Portable Network Graphics |
| Compression | vector (XML) | lossless |
| Transparency | Yes | Yes |
| Animation | yes (CSS/SMIL) | only as APNG |
| Typical size | tiny for icons and logos | large for photos (often 5–10× a JPG) |
| Best for | logos, icons and illustrations that must stay sharp at any size | screenshots, logos, icons, UI graphics and anything with text or sharp edges |
| Weak at | photos, and places that only accept raster images — app stores, social networks, email, Office and many CMS uploads | photographs, where files become very large |
| Support | all browsers; limited in email and office software | every browser, OS and app |
Transparency
Both formats support an alpha channel, so transparent areas are kept. Tick Flatten transparency if you want a solid background instead.
Quality and file size
PNG is lossless, so the output keeps every pixel of the decoded SVG. Choose the output width carefully: the PNG is rendered at exactly that size, so use 2× the display size for sharp results on high-density screens.
Private, batch conversion
Conversion uses your browser’s own image decoder and the HTML canvas, so files are never uploaded — useful for personal photos, client work and screenshots with sensitive data. Drop as many files as you like, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP. You can also set a maximum width to resize large images while converting. Need smaller files without changing the format? Use the image compressor; to change dimensions only, use the image resizer.
