Rates are per hour and used for billable time. Leave empty if you don’t bill.

Your data never leaves your computer. All processing happens 100% locally in your browser.

How to use the Time Tracker

  1. Type what you’re working on, pick a project and press Start. The timer keeps running if you close the tab.
  2. Press Stop when you finish. Edit the note right in the list, change times with the pencil, or continue an entry with ▶.
  3. Forgot to start the timer? Use Add time manually with a start and end time.
  4. Set hourly rates under Projects & rates, choose a period, and export a CSV, Excel or PDF timesheet.

A private time tracker that works without an account

Most time trackers want you to sign up first. This one starts the moment the page loads: your projects, entries and notes are saved in your browser’s local storage and never sent to a server. A running timer survives closing the tab or restarting the browser, and the page title shows the elapsed time so you can see it from any tab.

  • Projects with colors and hourly rates — billable time turns into earnings in the summary and exports.
  • Notes on every entry, editable in place, so your timesheet says what the hours were for.
  • Daily and weekly totals, a per-project breakdown and filters for today, this week, last week and this month.
  • Rounding to 1, 5, 6 (a tenth of an hour), 15 or 30 minutes for invoices.
  • Exports: CSV for any spreadsheet, a real Excel .xlsx file and a printable PDF timesheet. Download a JSON backup to move your data to another browser.

Timesheet tips for freelancers

Track as you work rather than reconstructing the day afterwards — estimates from memory are usually off by a lot. Write a short note per entry (“Homepage hero, review round 2”) so clients can see what they’re paying for. Round consistently, and say in your contract which rounding you use.

Keep your data safe

Because everything lives in this browser, clearing site data or using a private window removes it. Download a backup now and then, especially before switching computers. Need a cost estimate from hours? The Percentage Calculator handles markups and the Date Difference Calculator counts working days.

  • Unix Timestamp Converter — See the current Unix time live, convert any epoch timestamp (seconds, milliseconds, micro- or nanoseconds) to a date in any time zone, and turn dates back into timestamps.
  • Time Zone Converter — Convert any time between cities and time zones, see the current time everywhere, and find a meeting slot that falls in everyone’s working hours.
  • JSON to Excel — Turn a JSON array into a real Excel workbook.
  • Loan Calculator — Work out the monthly payment (EMI) for a personal, car or student loan, the total interest you’ll pay and a year-by-year amortization schedule — and see how an extra payment each month shortens the loan.

Frequently asked questions

Is this time tracker free?
Yes. There’s no account, no limit on projects or entries and no paid plan. It runs in your browser.
Where is my data stored?
In your browser’s local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded. Use Download backup to keep a copy or move your entries to another browser, then Restore backup there.
Does the timer keep running if I close the tab?
Yes. The start time is saved, so when you come back the timer shows the full elapsed time. Stop it whenever you finish.
Can I export a timesheet?
Yes: CSV, an Excel .xlsx file or a PDF timesheet for the selected period and project, with notes, durations, billable hours and earnings.
How does rounding work?
Pick a rounding step for reports, for example 15 minutes. Each entry’s duration is rounded to the nearest step in the totals and exports; the original times are kept.
Can I install Time Tracker as a web app and use it offline?
Yes. Time Tracker is an installable web app (PWA) — installed from your browser, not downloaded from an app store. Click Install app at the top of this page in Chrome or Edge (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS) or on Android, use Share → Add to Home Screen on iPhone and iPad, or File → Add to Dock in Safari 17+ on a Mac. It then opens in its own window with its own icon, and because it runs entirely in your browser it keeps working offline. Firefox on desktop can’t install web apps. How installing works.
