How to use the Online Notepad

  1. Start typing — the note saves automatically in your browser.
  2. Click New note to start another; the first line becomes its title.
  3. Search across notes from the box on the left.
  4. Copy a note or download it as .txt or .md.

A private scratchpad that remembers

Paste a phone number, draft an email, jot meeting notes or keep a to-do list — the notepad saves every keystroke to your browser’s local storage, so your notes are still there when you come back, even offline. Nothing is uploaded and there’s no account.

  • Keep as many notes as you like; the first line is the title.
  • Search finds text in any note.
  • Word and character counts update as you type.
  • Switch to a monospace font for code or tables.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my notes saved?
In your browser’s local storage on this device. They aren’t sent anywhere and other people can’t see them.
Will my notes still be here tomorrow?
Yes, as long as you use the same browser and don’t clear its site data or use a private window. Download notes you need to keep safe.
Can I use it offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, writing and saving work without a connection — install devpack as an app to open it offline any time.
Can I install Online Notepad as a web app and use it offline?
Yes. Online Notepad is an installable web app (PWA) — installed from your browser, not downloaded from an app store. Click Install app at the top of this page in Chrome or Edge (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS) or on Android, use Share → Add to Home Screen on iPhone and iPad, or File → Add to Dock in Safari 17+ on a Mac. It then opens in its own window with its own icon, and because it runs entirely in your browser it keeps working offline. Firefox on desktop can’t install web apps. How installing works.
