How to use the Audio Speed Changer

  1. Choose an audio file.
  2. Drag the speed slider or tap a preset; the player previews it live.
  3. Keep original pitch on for speech, or off for a slowed / nightcore sound.
  4. Click Download to save the new version.

Speed and pitch, separately

Changing playback speed normally changes pitch too — faster sounds higher, slower sounds deeper, like a record player. That’s the “nightcore” and “slowed” effect, and it’s produced instantly here as a WAV file. When you keep the original pitch, your browser time-stretches the audio as it plays, which is ideal for lectures, podcasts, audiobooks or practicing a song at a slower tempo; the tool records that playback, so saving takes as long as the new length of the track.

Cut the part you need first with the Audio Trimmer, or play it backwards with Reverse Audio.

Frequently asked questions

Can I slow down audio without changing the pitch?
Yes — leave “Keep the original pitch” on. The download is made by playing the audio at the new speed, so it takes as long as the result.
How do I make a slowed or nightcore version?
Turn off “Keep the original pitch”: slow it to about 0.8× for a slowed sound, or speed it to 1.25× for nightcore.
Is my audio uploaded?
No. It is processed by your browser.
Can I install Audio Speed Changer as a web app and use it offline?
Yes. Audio Speed Changer is an installable web app (PWA) — installed from your browser, not downloaded from an app store. Click Install app at the top of this page in Chrome or Edge (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS) or on Android, use Share → Add to Home Screen on iPhone and iPad, or File → Add to Dock in Safari 17+ on a Mac. It then opens in its own window with its own icon, and because it runs entirely in your browser it keeps working offline. Firefox on desktop can’t install web apps. How installing works.
