How to use the CSS Button Styles
- Hover the buttons and click the style you like.
- Set your colors, size, corner radius and speed, plus the hover, pressed and clicked states. Every style updates live.
- Copy the CSS and HTML, or use Copy all for one block.
- For Webflow, press Copy to Webflow and paste into the Designer with Ctrl/⌘+V.
Hover effects that stay light
Every style here is plain CSS, apart from one line-sweep style that adds a small inline SVG. No library and no JavaScript. Colors are custom properties at the top of the rule, so restyling a button later means changing two or three values.
- Keyboard users get a visible
:focus-visiblering on every style. - Reduced motion is respected: movement switches off for visitors who ask for less animation.
- Links or buttons: use
<a>to go somewhere and<button>to do something. The CSS works on both.
Hover, pressed and clicked states
Each button comes with a :hover text color and an :active pressed color and size. Turn on Clicked state to add an .is-clicked style with a short script, which suits like, save or follow buttons. Choose rem to size the button relative to the root font size, assuming the browser default of 16px. Thin 1px and 2px lines stay in pixels so they remain sharp.
Using a style in Webflow
Copy to Webflow pastes an Embed element containing the styles and the button. Webflow can’t build pseudo-element animations in the Style panel, so an Embed keeps the effect exact. To style your own buttons instead, put the CSS in your site’s custom code and give them the class.
Want to build a button from scratch? Use the CSS Button Generator. Check text legibility with the Contrast Checker, and see the Hamburger Menu Icons for animated menu buttons.
