How to use the US States Dropdown

  1. The page starts with US states: 50 states plus Washington DC.
  2. Tick Include territories to add Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands.
  3. Choose the label (name or name with code) and value (code or name).
  4. Copy the HTML, React, Vue or JSON.

States and codes

Values are the two-letter USPS abbreviations — CA, NY, TX — which address verification and shipping APIs expect. Washington DC (DC) is included by default because it has its own mailing addresses; territories are optional. For shipping to military addresses, add AA, AE and AP to a custom list.
