How to use the Find and Replace in Files
- Drop the files (or click to choose them). Binary files such as images are skipped.
- Add one or more rules; turn on Regex for patterns and $1 capture groups.
- Check the match count per file and preview any file.
- Download the changed files as a ZIP — unchanged files are left out.
When you need it
- Rename a function, class or CSS variable across a folder of code.
- Update a domain, email address or copyright year in many HTML or Markdown files.
- Fix a delimiter or column name in a batch of CSV exports.
Private and reversible
Files are read and changed in your browser — nothing is uploaded — and your originals are never modified: you download edited copies. Folder structure is kept in the ZIP when the browser provides it (drag a folder in Chrome or Edge). For a single text, use Find and Replace.
Also searched as: bulk find and replace, replace text in multiple files, batch find and replace, search and replace multiple files online, multi file replace.
Tools that pair well with the Find and Replace in Files
- Regex Replace — Search and replace with regular expressions — use capture groups like $1 to reorder text, anchors for whole lines, and several rules at once.
- Text Compare — Paste two versions of a text to see exactly what changed: added and removed lines and the changed words inside them, highlighted side by side or in one view.
- Line Ending Converter — See which line endings a file uses and convert them — Windows CRLF to Unix LF or back — for pasted text or a whole batch of files, with trailing-space and tab cleanup on the side.
- Remove Duplicate Lines — Paste a list to remove duplicate lines instantly.
