How to convert megabits to megabytes
One megabit equals 0.125 megabytes, so multiply the value in megabits by 0.125: MB = Mbit × 0.125. Equivalently, divide by 8.
Example: 500 Mbit = 500 × 0.125 = 62.5 MB.

About the units
- Megabit (Mbit): One million bits (125,000 bytes); internet speeds are quoted in megabits per second (Mbps).
- Megabyte (MB): Decimal megabyte: 1,000,000 bytes, as used by storage makers, macOS and network speeds.
Internet providers quote speeds in megabits per second, while downloads show megabytes per second. Divide by 8: a 100 Mbps connection downloads at most about 12.5 MB/s, a little less after protocol overhead.
