How to use the Salary to Hourly Calculator
- Enter your pay and choose whether it’s per year, month, week, day or hour.
- Set your hours and days per week.
- If some weeks off are unpaid, enter them — the hourly rate and yearly total adjust.
From salary to hourly
With a standard 40-hour week and 52 paid weeks there are 2,080 working hours in a year, so hourly rate = salary ÷ 2,080. A $65,000 salary is $31.25 an hour. Working 37.5 hours, the same salary is $33.33.
Paid and unpaid time off
Salaried jobs usually pay for vacation and public holidays, so they stay in the 52 weeks. Freelancers and hourly workers don’t get paid for time off: enter the weeks you won’t work and the yearly figure from an hourly rate drops accordingly — useful when setting a freelance rate.
Tracking freelance hours? The Time Tracker turns hours into earnings, and the Time Card Calculator adds up a week with overtime.
