How to use the Time Card Calculator
- For each day you worked, enter the start and end time and any unpaid break in minutes.
- Leave days you didn’t work empty. A shift that ends after midnight is counted correctly.
- Add your hourly rate and overtime rule to see your pay.
- Copy the summary or download the time card as CSV.
Adding up hours the easy way
Time doesn’t add like decimals — 7 h 45 min plus 8 h 30 min is 16 h 15 min, or 16.25 hours. The calculator shows both hours:minutes and decimal hours, which payroll systems usually want.
Overtime
In the US, the Fair Labor Standards Act requires overtime of at least 1.5 × the regular rate for non-exempt employees after 40 hours in a workweek. Some states (like California) also count daily overtime. Change the threshold and multiplier to match your rules.
Tracking hours as you work? The Time Tracker records them with notes and exports timesheets. To compare an hourly wage with a salary, use the Salary to Hourly Calculator.
