How to use the Retirement Calculator
- Enter your age and the age you want to retire.
- Add current savings and what you put in each month.
- Adjust the expected return and inflation to see the range of outcomes.
The 4% rule
A widely used guideline says withdrawing about 4% of your savings in the first year of retirement, then adjusting for inflation, has historically lasted around 30 years. So $1,000,000 supports roughly $40,000 a year. The calculator also shows the result in today’s money, since inflation reduces what a future dollar buys.
This is an estimate, not financial advice; returns vary from year to year.
