How to use the Water Intake Calculator

  1. Enter your weight.
  2. Add your average minutes of exercise per day.
  3. Pick your climate and read your daily water target.

How the estimate works

A common rule of thumb is about 33 ml of water per kilogram of body weight per day, plus roughly 350 ml for every 30 minutes of exercise and more in hot weather. Food provides around a fifth of your water, and drinks such as tea and milk count too.

Health authorities give broad adequate-intake figures of about 2.7 liters a day for women and 3.7 liters for men from all drinks and food. Thirst and pale-yellow urine are good everyday guides.

Frequently asked questions

Do coffee and tea count toward water intake?
Yes. Their mild diuretic effect is small, so they still add to your daily fluid.
Can you drink too much water?
Yes — very large amounts in a short time can dilute blood sodium. Spread intake through the day, especially during long exercise.
Is anything I enter saved or sent?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. Your last inputs are remembered on this device only, so the page opens where you left off.
Can I install Water Intake Calculator as a web app and use it offline?
Yes. Water Intake Calculator is an installable web app (PWA) — installed from your browser, not downloaded from an app store. Click Install app at the top of this page in Chrome or Edge (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS) or on Android, use Share → Add to Home Screen on iPhone and iPad, or File → Add to Dock in Safari 17+ on a Mac. It then opens in its own window with its own icon, and because it runs entirely in your browser it keeps working offline. Firefox on desktop can’t install web apps. How installing works.
