How to use the VAT Calculator
- Choose whether your amount includes VAT.
- Enter the amount and pick a rate (or a custom one).
- Copy the net, VAT and gross figures.
The formulas
Add VAT: gross = net × (1 + rate). Remove VAT: net = gross ÷ (1 + rate) — not gross minus the rate, a common mistake. At 20%, VAT on a £120 gross price is £20, not £24.
Selling in the U.S.? Use the Sales Tax Calculator. Need margins too? Try the Profit Margin Calculator.
