How to use the ROI Calculator
- Enter how much you put in.
- Enter what it is worth now or what it returned.
- Add the time held to see the annualized return.
ROI and annualized return
ROI = (final value − investment) ÷ investment. It ignores time, so a 35% return over 3 years and over 1 year look the same. The annualized return (CAGR), (final ÷ initial)1/years − 1, makes them comparable: 35% over 3 years is about 10.5% a year.
